McGill Environment’s annual semi-formal Spring Fling on March 22nd was a huge success. What a great turnout, great food, great music, and great fun! The event was held at Thomson House on McTavish – not only was the venue great, but the building manager and bartenders were incredibly friendly and helpful. The night started off with The Howling Gales (an amazing band) playing wonderfully catchy and smooth songs as guests mingled, ate, and drank. Then it was time for the photo contest. All of the photo entries under our water theme were pretty amazing, but one lucky photographer, our own Chris Wong, beat the applause-o-meter (anonymously!) and won himself a pair of MSE undies! After the contest, guests continued to mingle and eat. The food really was amazing – all the dishes were vegetarian, with a few vegan platters and dips, and some homemade brownies. After The Howling Gales performed their second set, it was time to kick off the night-time segment of the event, and so DJ Body Sound took over. At this point most of the professors had quietly slipped out, and The DJ played oldies, some Top 40, and other really catchy crowd favourites to get us moving. We tore it up on the dance floor until midnight. Overall, the MESS Spring Fling of 2012 was a grand success – thanks to all who came, it wouldn’t have happened without you!!
